As of October 27, 2026, AAIP was assessing Alberta Opportunity Stream applications received on or before July 16, 2026, 103 days (about 3.4 months) earlier.

These dates come from the Government of Alberta's AAIP processing information page, last updated October 21, 2026. It is not a guaranteed processing time.

How to read these dates

  • The date marks the point AAIP has reached in a stream's queue. It does not say how long any single application will take.
  • Each stream and each Alberta Express Entry pathway has its own queue, so the dates differ: as of October 27, 2026, they range from July 1, 2026 to October 21, 2026.
  • AAIP describes the Rural Renewal Stream figures as an estimate that can vary, for example with application volumes from designated communities.
  • Draws decide who is invited to apply; these dates concern applications already received. Draw results are on the AAIP draws page.

Questions about AAIP processing times

What is the AAIP processing time in 2026?

The AAIP processing information page gives, for each stream, the receipt date of the applications AAIP is currently assessing. As of October 27, 2026, those dates were July 16, 2026 for the Alberta Opportunity Stream (103 days or about 3.4 months earlier); September 4, 2026 for the Rural Renewal Stream (53 days or about 1.7 months earlier); October 21, 2026 for the Tourism and Hospitality Stream (6 days earlier); and August 29, 2026 for the Dedicated Health Care Pathways (59 days or about 1.9 months earlier).

What does “currently assessing applications received on or before” mean?

It is the receipt date AAIP has reached in a stream’s queue: applications received on or before that date are being assessed, and applications received after it are not being assessed yet. It shows where the queue stands; it is not a guaranteed processing time for any one application.

What is the processing date for the Alberta Express Entry Stream?

AAIP publishes a separate date for each pathway or initiative of the Alberta Express Entry Stream. As of October 27, 2026, those dates were July 1, 2026 for the Accelerated Tech Pathway (118 days or about 3.9 months earlier); September 24, 2026 for the Law Enforcement Pathway (33 days or about 1.1 months earlier); and July 6, 2026 for the Priority sector draws and other initiatives (113 days or about 3.7 months earlier).

How many AAIP nominations are left for 2026?

As of the October 21, 2026 update of the AAIP processing information page, AAIP had issued 5,831 of its 6,603 nominations for 2026, leaving 772 spaces, with 856 applications to be processed. Nominations issued through the additional federal spaces (Physicians: 50; Francophones: 12) do not count toward the 6,603.

Also in the Express Entry pool?

AAIP minimum scores are expression of interest scores, not Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores, so they cannot be compared with Express Entry cutoffs. For an Express Entry profile, the CRS calculator estimates a CRS score under the grid in force before November 3, 2026 and under the rules from that date, and compares it with the latest federal cutoffs.
